Valeggio and Borghetto
Driving across the vineyards you come to an extraordinary place between the lake and the hills
Valeggio The towers of the castle are part of a broader defensive system that even involved the diversion of a river, the Mincio. The powerful water of this river gave origin to the mills of Borghetto, a village that takes you back in time, while observing the spinning wheels under the thunderous roar of water. Its charm makes it a destination for couples in love. This border place saw several emperors going along its long medieval bridge. Even today Borghetto sul Mincio doesn’t stop surprising us. Thousands of tortellini are served on the longest table in the world, which puts this bridge in the Guinness Book of Records, with shows dedicated to the special dish: the knot of love.
Do not miss the Sigurtà Park, 60 hectares of meadows and woods, ponds and tree-lined streets, flowers in all seasons, a haven of biodiversity.
